ISTE (International Technology)
ISTE (International Technology)
Hey team,
So I went to check out the ISTE Standards community link and of course it’s down right now. Story of my life. When I need it most, it takes a digital vacation.
Looking through the ISTE Standards though, I really like how they line up with our OCT chart. The Collaborator and Facilitator parts feel like home to me as an international teacher. Working across cultures, languages, and online platforms has made collaboration second nature.
Equity is where the critical lens comes in. The standards sound great on paper, but do all students in my context really have equal access to devices, internet speeds, and digital literacy support? That’s a tougher question. It pushes me to design lessons that can run high-tech or low-tech depending on what students bring to the table.
My biggest challenge is the Analyst role. Using data is important but it can also feel overwhelming with so many dashboards and tools out there. My next step is figuring out how to use student feedback and assessment info without drowning in spreadsheets.
For further thought:
How can we balance shiny new tools with equity of access?
What support systems should schools put in place for families who don’t have reliable tech?
Could AI tools help teachers actually save time on assessment, or are we adding more plates to spin?
Cheers from Taiwan,
Mike
