WAKELET INDIGENOUS EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES The pressing need to learn from Indigenous elders In an OCSB and Ontario e-learning setting, I would approach this current event by integrating it into a cross-curricular lesson that connects Indigenous history, culture, and contemporary issues. Students could begin by reading the CBC article and then participate in a virtual talking circle with an invited Indigenous elder or knowledge keeper. We could use breakout rooms for small-group discussions where students compare the role of elders in the past with their role today, reflecting on how colonialism has impacted cultural continuity. Media literacy skills could be built in by having students examine how different news sources present stories about Indigenous communities.
